Welcoming new leadership for the 2022-23 academic year
Teik C. Lim Begins Tenure as Ninth President of NJIT
July 1 marks the first day of Dr. Teik C. Lim’s appointment as president of New Jersey Institute of Technology.
“My wife, Gina, and I are ecstatic to be joining the NJIT community, and we are excited about the opportunities and challenges that await us,” said Dr. Lim. “It was an honor to be selected to lead such an important institution into the future, and a privilege to begin the work of leading NJIT and continuing its amazing trajectory.”
Before NJIT, Lim served as interim president at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he also served as provost and a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Lim successfully guided UTA through the COVID-19 pandemic while driving increases in student success metrics, including degree attainment, population diversity and graduation rates.
Prior to UTA, Dr. Lim spent 15 years at the University of Cincinnati, where he served as dean of engineering and applied science and founded the UC Simulation Center in collaboration with Procter & Gamble, which became one of the largest interdisciplinary university-industry research centers on campus.
Lim holds a Ph.D., master’s and bachelor’s in mechanical engineering and numerous patents. He’s also a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, where he recently spoke at NAI’s annual conference on a panel discussing innovation and entrepreneurship, American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Society of Automotive Engineers International.
